What would the world look like if the fossil fuel industry suddenly collapsed? What if all of our petrol and diesel cars suddenly became obsolete? What would happen to all of the infrastructure that has supported them for decades? 
Sure, electric cars might end up using them, but I wondered if there could be some more interesting uses, one of which I explored in this illustration. I set myself the brief of creating an editorial illustration for an article exploring this idea - local communities repurposing abandoned petrol stations, and putting them back to good use. 
I even went as far to create a mocked up version of the article - see below - with help from everyone's favourite essayist, ChatGPT.
